I have those exact A-Arm guards. They suck.
So it’s pitch black, me on a 420, and cousin on a 400ex. I was going down a steep hill kind of fast, with a tall drop off on both sides. I was aiming a little to the right to dodge fallen trees and stumps (grandma’s property is being logged, it was a mess). All of the sudden, I’m aiming right at the bank dodging things, mud everywhere so brakes just make me slide, and I can’t move the handlebar left. Thankfully I was able to stop before going over the edge, but I get under it with a flashlight to see what was wrong. The A-Arm guards are held on by two simple clamps around the rear bar of the A-Arm that are tightened by one bolt each. Well, I guess they got a little loose and the right A-Arm guard got pushed straight down when I hit some of the mud, so it was sitting flush against the front of the right wheel, not allowing me to turn left. I had to get a thick fallen branch to hammer it back over so I could swing it back into place, and hope it didn’t happen again before I could get out of the holler.
